Next Generation Housing

Revitalizing Downtowns

Taxes

Nina is personally familiar with the high taxes that Long Islanders face.

It is a fact that almost 95% of home owners in Nassau County are being crushed by the high property taxes that face our county. Nina understands that many working and middle class families are simply not wealthy enough to pay the soaring fraction of income in property taxes. Nina is interested in developing real solutions to this real problem that seems to have raided the county. She hears the cries of the residents who feel they have given all they could in terms of taxes. Nina recognizes this problem and is ready to bring relief to those who are no longer able to give to Albany without receiving their fair share in return.

Part of Nina’s plan to address the high property taxes in Nassau County is to consolidate the special districts which are costing our taxpayers extra money due to waste and to create more housing for many young couples, families, and professionals who seem to have trouble purchasing housing in Nassau County. The increase of appropriate housing will ultimately allow Nassau County more room for a wider tax base through increased property taxes and spending in the downtowns. Nina’s devotion to address soaring property taxes is not only a testimony to her concern for many working and middle-class residents of Nassau County, but it is also an indication of her ability to understand the situation many Islanders face. While creating more housing is an option for placing a cap on high taxes, Nina also is interested in the welfare of businesses in Nassau County. With the recession on the rise, many small businesses are suffering. Nina believes that it is necessary for businesses to recover from the effects of the recession for two reasons. Firstly, recovering of businesses will allow for many residents who have owned businesses in Nassau County an opportunity to thrive economically. Also, the recovering of businesses will eventually allow for more businesses to eventually be created and expanded, thereby sharing the tax burden. Creating a town with many businesses around residential areas will ultimately relieve the burden of high taxes.
